Verbatim Sort

Codes thousands of open-ended survey answers into themes you can audit

About this tool

Verbatim Sort reads open-text survey responses, proposes a codebook of themes with definitions, and assigns every response to one or more codes. You can merge, split or rename codes and it re-sorts everything, keeping a log of each change so the analysis can be explained to a stakeholder or reviewer.

Research agencies, customer insight teams and academic researchers use it to code thousands of responses in an afternoon instead of a week. Agreement with a human-coded sample is reported for every project. Sarcasm, very short answers and responses mixing several languages are coded less reliably, and those are queued for manual review.

Highlights

  • 01Proposes a codebook with definitions
