Cinderford

Flask and HTMX SaaS starter for small, single-purpose products

About this starter

Cinderford is a compact Flask kit for tools that do one job well. It includes Flask-Login with email and Google sign-in, SQLAlchemy 2 with Alembic, HTMX-driven pages, Stripe subscriptions with a billing page, RQ for background jobs, a simple admin with search, and Jinja email templates. The full kit is about 3,000 lines of Python.

It is opinionated about explicit code: no blueprints factory magic, no plugin system, just modules you can follow from route to template. That suits a one-person product. The limitation: Flask leaves many decisions open, and the kit answers only some. Teams, i18n and an API are missing, and adding them means choosing libraries the kit does not guide you on.

Highlights

  • 01About 3,000 lines of plain Python
  • 02RQ background jobs with a retry dashboard
