Ninefold Bell

A bullet hell where ringing a temple bell rewinds the last three seconds

About this game

You carry a small bronze bell into a shrine full of spirits that fill the screen with patterns of paper lanterns. Ring the bell and time rewinds three seconds, but each ring adds a crack, and nine cracks ends the run. The whole game is about deciding when a mistake is worth undoing. Charms found between rooms change the rewind, letting you freeze bullets or keep your position.

It is drawn in violet ink and gold leaf, with patterns that are dense but always readable. A full run is around 35 minutes, and there are five shrines to unlock. Shmup veterans will love the rewind economy; newcomers get an assist mode. The demo covers the first shrine. The caveat: the final boss is brutally hard even with assists turned on.

Highlights

  • 01Rewind three seconds, nine times per run
