Product Owner (9-month contract)

Civic Forms helps small and mid-sized cities move permit applications online: building permits, sidewalk cafés, block parties. We work with 70 city halls, and most of them replaced paper forms in the last two years.

For nine months we need a product owner to lead a contract with a city of 300,000 people moving its building permits online. You'll run discovery with city staff, write and prioritise the backlog, and accept work from a team of five engineers. Expect to sit in on permit counter calls, translate building codes into form logic, and sign off on accessibility testing.

You'll work within US time zones, with standups at 11:00 Eastern and fortnightly reviews with the city. Most communication with the client happens in writing, and we keep a public changelog for residents.
