Gravel Saint

A one-hit precision platformer about a monk climbing a quarry

About this game

A silent monk climbs a quarry carved into a mountain, and every surface is out to kill him. One hit and you restart the screen, instantly, with no loading. The moveset is tiny: a jump, a wall cling and a short dash that you refill by touching prayer bells. The challenge comes from combining those three in increasingly tight sequences.

Each screen is a single, hand-placed puzzle, rendered in red rock and charcoal with minimal music. Reaching the top takes 5 to 8 hours and somewhere between 2,000 and 5,000 deaths. It is for players who enjoy hard platformers and the rush of finally nailing a screen. The caveat: there is no assist mode, and the developers have said there will not be one.
