Moss & Mortar

Rebuild a stone cottage by hand, one carefully placed stone at a time

About this game

You inherit a collapsed cottage on a windy hillside and put it back together. Walls are built stone by stone from what you gather in the fields, and each stone has its own shape and weight. There is no timer, no money and no wrong answer; a crooked wall still stands, it just looks crooked. Later you fix the roof, plant a garden and invite a few neighbors over.

It is softly rendered in grey-green and lichen yellow, with weather that changes while you work. Most people finish in 5 to 6 hours, though plenty keep building. A perfect wind-down game for stressed adults. The caveat: the stone-rotation controls are fiddly with a mouse, and it plays much better on a controller.
