Tallyroom

Ask questions in plain English and get readable SQL against your own warehouse

About this tool

Tallyroom connects to Snowflake, BigQuery, Postgres or Redshift, reads your schema and dbt docs, and turns questions into SQL that it shows before running. Results come with a short explanation of which tables and filters were used, so an analyst can see in seconds whether "active customer" meant what they think it meant.

Operations and finance teams who wait days for simple numbers get answers directly, while data teams keep control through a library of approved metric definitions. Queries run with read-only credentials. Accuracy depends heavily on documentation: a warehouse full of tables named tmp_final_v2 produces confident but wrong joins, so Tallyroom marks low-confidence answers.

Highlights

  • 01Shows the SQL and tables before any results
  • 02Approved metric definitions owned by the data team
  • 03Marks low-confidence answers instead of guessing
