About this job
Kestrel Cover sells renters insurance online to 210,000 policyholders. Our numbers have to stand up in front of regulators and reinsurers, so "the dashboard says something different" is a real problem, not a shrug.
You'll own the dbt project that sits between raw policy data and every report we publish. In the first 90 days you'll untangle the three definitions of "active policy" currently in use, add tests to the claims models, and rebuild the loss ratio dashboard that the board reviews each quarter. We use dbt, BigQuery and Looker.
The data team is four people across North America. We work from a written backlog, review models in pull requests, and hold one weekly sync. Most of your stakeholders are in finance and actuarial, and they prefer a clear doc to a meeting.
