Plinth

Bare-bones Django starter with sane settings and nothing else

About this starter

Plinth is the settings file and project layout you would otherwise copy from your last Django project. It includes environment-based settings, a custom user model from the first migration, django-allauth with email login, Whitenoise for static files, a Tailwind base template, pytest with factories, and deploy configs for Fly and Render. Stripe Checkout is included as an optional app.

Its opinion is that the custom user model and settings layout are the only decisions that are painful to change later, so it makes those and leaves everything else alone. The limitation is obvious: no teams, no subscriptions management, no admin customization, no background jobs. It saves an afternoon, not a month.
