About this starter
Heronsgate pairs a FastAPI backend with a Next.js front end. The API uses async SQLModel on Postgres, Alembic migrations, OAuth2 password and Google sign-in, and Stripe subscriptions. Background work runs on ARQ with Redis. The front end has login, dashboard, billing and settings pages with a client generated from the OpenAPI schema, and Docker Compose brings everything up locally.
The project is opinionated about typing end to end: Pydantic models on one side, generated TypeScript on the other. It is a good fit if your product has a Python core, such as data processing. The limitation: no teams or roles, and the admin is a read-only list of users. Community issues suggest teams are planned, with no date.
