Full-Stack Engineer, Rails
Haybale · Bookkeeping and payroll built for small family farms
About this job
Haybale does the books for 2,600 farms that grow everything from blueberries to beef. Farmers log sales from a phone in the field; we turn that into tax-ready accounts and run payroll for seasonal crews, including the odd rules for agricultural workers.
You'll work across the whole Rails app. In the first 90 days you'll ship crew timesheets that work offline (barns rarely have signal), clean up the bank-feed matching that misreads co-op checks, and pair with our accountant on the year-end close export. We use Rails 8, Hotwire, Postgres and a small amount of Stimulus.
Eight engineers, all in North America. We keep two hours of overlap a day, write everything down in long-form threads, and avoid big launches in September and October, when our customers are busiest.
Highlights
- 01Profit sharing paid every March
- 02Health, dental and vision fully covered
- 03Quiet weeks at harvest, no launches
