I'm Kenji Morrow. I photograph places and the people in them.

A working photographer since 2012, splitting the year between editorial assignments, architecture and hotel commissions, and still life for food brands. Most jobs start with a map, a tide table and a phone call.

I started out assisting a still life photographer, printing contact sheets and learning how much a single flag can change a picture. Twelve years of my own commissions later I still shoot some film on most jobs, because medium format negatives make me slow down and look before I press the shutter.

My work moves between four kinds of pictures: landscapes for travel stories, interiors for architects and hotels, portraits for magazines and still life for food and drink brands. The method is the same for all of them. Scout first, work with the light that is there, and only add light when it earns its place in the frame.

I work alone or with a small crew I've known for years: a food stylist, an interiors stylist, a drone pilot and an assistant when the kit list gets long. I'm insured, licensed for drone work in the EU and UK, and I deliver graded files with clear usage terms, usually within five working days.
