- Are my files uploaded to your servers?
- Merge, split, rotate, compress, edit, redact and most conversions run on your device with WebAssembly, so the file never leaves your browser. OCR, e-sign and Office-to-PDF conversion run on our servers in Frankfurt; those files are encrypted in transit and deleted automatically after one hour.
- How good is the OCR on bad scans?
- It handles crooked, low-light phone photos and 200 dpi office scans well, in nine languages including German, Spanish, French and Japanese. Handwriting isn't recognized. You get the same-looking page with an invisible text layer, so it becomes searchable and copyable.
- Are the e-signatures legally binding?
- Signatures made with Two Staples are standard electronic signatures under ESIGN and UETA in the US and simple electronic signatures under eIDAS in the EU. Every signed file includes an audit certificate with signer emails, timestamps and IP addresses. Documents that need notarization are out of scope.
- What are the file size and page limits?
- Free handles files up to 50 MB and three tasks a day. Pro raises that to 200 MB with unlimited tasks, and Team to 500 MB. A single file can have up to 2,000 pages, and you can merge up to 50 files at once.
- Does it work offline or on my phone?
- It works in any current browser on Mac, Windows, Linux, iPad and Android. Once the page has loaded, the on-device tools keep working without a connection, which is handy on a train. OCR and e-sign need to be online.
- We're moving from a desktop PDF editor. What about our forms?
- Upload your existing fillable forms and they keep their fields. Team admins can import saved signatures and stamps, and on the Team plan we'll migrate up to 200 templates for you at no charge.
- Can I cancel or get a refund?
- Cancel from the billing page in two clicks and keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. If you upgrade and it isn't what you needed, email us within 30 days for a full refund — no exit survey.
