EngineeringFull-time
Staff Platform Engineer
Pebblestack · Hosted CI runners built for large monorepos
About this job
Pebblestack runs CI for monorepos with 2,000+ packages, where a normal runner spends more time restoring caches than running tests. We keep warm, content-addressed caches next to each build, so a typical pipeline drops from 40 minutes to under 9.
As our second staff engineer you'll own the scheduler that places jobs on 3,000 bare-metal nodes across four regions. The first 90 days: learn the fleet, cut cold-start time for new runners, and write the plan for moving cache storage off a single object store. Most of the code is Rust; infrastructure is Kubernetes and Terraform.
Hours overlap 14:00–17:00 UTC. Everything else is async: RFCs in the repo, decisions logged in a changelog, and recorded demos every second Friday instead of a sprint review.
