Larchmont Pay is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer at $165–195kSee the role

Why we started Overlap Hours

We spent years hiring for remote teams and applying to them. The same thing kept happening: four rounds of interviews, a take-home project, then an offer 30% below what anyone would have accepted. Everyone's time, wasted on a number that could have been in the first line of the ad.

So Overlap Hours has one hard rule: no salary range, no listing. Every post also says which time zones the team works in and how much overlap they expect, because "remote" can mean anything from fully async to on camera 9 to 5 Eastern.

We're a team of four, spread across Lisbon, Toronto and Melbourne. We review every post by hand, keep job seekers' accounts free, and earn our money from the companies that post.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Post a job
How much does it cost to post a job?

A standard post is $249 and stays live for 30 days. A featured post is $449: it's pinned at the top of its category and included in the weekly digest. Nonprofits and companies under 10 people get 50% off; email us before you post and we'll send a code.

How long does a listing stay up?

30 days from the day it's approved. We email you on day 25 with a one-click renewal at the same price. If you fill the role early, mark it filled from the link in your confirmation email and it comes down within the hour.

How do you verify companies?

A person checks every new company before its first post goes live: a working website, a company email domain that matches it, and an apply link on that domain or a known applicant tracking system. Anything that looks like a reseller, a recruiter without a named client or a pay-to-apply scheme gets rejected.

Why is a salary range mandatory?

Because it's the first thing candidates want to know and the last thing most job ads tell them. Posts with a range get more qualified applicants and fewer people dropping out at the offer stage. Several US states and EU countries now require ranges anyway, so we made it the rule everywhere.

Is it free for job seekers?

Yes. Searching, saving jobs and the weekly digest are free, and we never charge candidates to apply. Employers pay for posts, which is how we keep the lights on.
