Rebuilding a homewares storefront for mobile buyers
A themed storefront weighing 6.1 MB per product page became a headless Astro build that loads in just over a second on a mid-range phone, with a shorter checkout to match.

Since 2017, Tidewater Code has built the unglamorous, load-bearing web: the checkout, the booking calendar, the dashboard a dispatcher opens at 6 a.m. Here is what we made and what we learned.

Storefronts, booking, internal tools and a couple of rescues. Each case study shows the starting numbers, the decisions we made and what changed once it shipped.

A regional freight company ran dispatch, driver hours and invoicing across 14 shared spreadsheets. We replaced them with one dashboard that dispatchers open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
Engineers inspecting water meters filled in paper forms that were typed up days later. We built a mobile app that works with no signal and syncs photos and readings when it can.
Twelve clinics took bookings by phone, and front desks spent three hours a day on the line. We built online booking that respects clinician rules and syncs with their practice software.
A food publisher was stuck on an unsupported CMS with a 40-minute publish cycle. We migrated 9,000 pages to a headless CMS and static front end without losing search traffic.
A meal-kit subscription app had grown slow enough that customers missed their weekly cut-off. In six weeks we fixed the front end, the queries and the caching behind the menu page.

Testimonials
“They asked for our analytics before they asked about colours. Every decision in the rebuild was tied to a number, and the numbers moved.”
“The handover week was the best part. Our two developers now own the system, and the runbook has already saved one Saturday.”
“Fixed price, weekly demos, no surprises. When the practice software API turned out worse than expected, they told us that week and showed us the plan B.”
